Abstract

"Economies and markets are under the impact of geopolitical tensions which may lead to uncertainty and supply chain disruptions. The aim of the study is to examine interrelationships between geopolitical risks and commodity market using monthly data over June 2012-September 2024 and controlling other factors. By using various methods, results show significant interrelationships between geopolitical risks and aggregate commodity market. Findings indicate transmission of geopolitical risks on the commodity market return and volatility. Geopolitical tensions and uncertainties should be reduced as they may affect the commodity market, which is important for many economic activities. "
