"This presentation provides a historical and policy-oriented overview of agriculture and rural development in Türkiye. It begins with an exploration of peasant agriculture during the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic, emphasizing its socio-economic structure and cultural traits. It examines key historical milestones such as the Land Reform initiatives and the influence of the Marshall Plan. The presentation continues with an in-depth analysis of Türkiye's agricultural and rural development policies, discussing their evolution in response to domestic challenges and EU integration processes. By contrasting traditional rural life with the changing political-economic landscape, the presentation highlights the persistent structural issues and policy responses shaping Türkiye's rural sector."
