The Department of Economics seeks applications for full-time faculty positions beginning September 2012.
Both junior and senior candidates are invited to apply. Due to government regulations, the positions are open for Turkish citizens only. Candidates should show strong research potential and a capacity for effective teaching. Middle East Technical University is a research-oriented state university with a commitment to teaching excellence. The economics department was established in 1959 and remains one of the most research-active economics departments in Turkey. The department currently has 32 full-time faculty holding degrees from North-American and European Universities, and offers both undergraduate and post-graduate (masters and Ph.D.) degrees. Undergraduate students come from the top 1 percentile of the university applicants in Turkey. Additional information about the university may be obtained at www.metu.edu.tr. Junior applicants are expected to receive their Ph.D. in economics by August 2012. Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, sample publications/working papers, and three recommendation letters. Selected candidates will be interviewed in the ASSA meetings in Chicago.
